2022 Math Standards: Rigor, Assessment & the K-12 Progressions

The 2022 Minnesota Academic Standards in Mathematics define mathematical understanding as the intersection ofmathematical practices and content. To support students in achieving proficiency on the MCA assessments, educators must move beyond "answer-getting" and embrace a "three-legged stool" of rigor: balancing conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and real-world application. This three-day professional development series is designed for K-12 educators and leaders to explore the vertical learning progressions that build foundations in early grades for mastery in later years. Paticipants will engage with high-leverage instructional routines and visual tools named through the standards to ensure all students develop the habits of mind exhibited by mathematically proficient learners.

Participants may register for one, two or all three days of the series. There is a reduced cost for registering for all three days.

2022 Math High School Standards Institute

Join us this summer for a two day-professional learning experience designed to support middle and high school educators in bringing Minnesota’s 2022 High School Mathematics Standards to life through data and statistics. This workshop is ideal for teachers looking to strengthen their own statistical understanding while building practical strategies for integrating meaningful data experiences into their classrooms.

On August 6 and 7, participants will deepen their background in statistics, explore classroom ready routines that promote conceptual understanding, procedural skill, and real-world applications. Teachers will collaborate to plan lessons that embed new data science benchmarks into existing courses and experience what a data-integrated algebra course can look like in practice - including thoughtful decisions about what content to prioritize and to streamline to make space.

Whether you’re new to teaching statistics or looking to expand your current approach, this session will provide both the foundation and the tools to confidently implement data-rich instruction in your classroom.

Description: Unpack the 2022 MN Math Standards, that will be fully implemented in the 2027-28 school year through the 2022 Math Standards Glossary and Appendices. Each session will highlight the information from the math standards that will illuminate the progression of learning from K-12 to support educators and leaders in making instructional decisions in mathematics.

7:00 AM - 7:30 AM - each session. Sessions will be recorded and posted on the Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics YouTube Channel

You only need to register ONCE. Upon registration you will receive a zoom link for all sessions. You will receive an email reminder for each session one day prior to the event.
