Should I Present at the MCTM Spring Conference?

Short answer? Yes!

Long answer?

The MCTM Spring Conference is put on for teachers, by teachers. If you have yet to attend, it is a joyful and motivating experience. Look around and you'll see educators that are anywhere from 20 plus years of teaching and those that are still in college to become teachers. There are educators from all over Minnesota. Some teachers come alone and others come with a school or district. Regardless, they all come to learn and connect with others.

You might not think presenting is for you. Humor me, and consider the variety of reasons for presenting at the conference. Teaching is a journey. We don't figure it all out in the first year and repeat. We are constantly growing, learning, and striving to meet the needs of our students. Being a presenter at the conference doesn't mean that you have it all figured out. Choosing to present could mean that you are willing to share something that you have tried this year. Choosing to present could mean sharing learning around something you have been curious about. Choosing to present could mean sharing a new way of teaching a standard that you hadn't considered before. There is no "right" or "ideal" way to show up as a presenter. We all have things to learn from each other.

If you are at all curious about presenting - I encourage you to sign up to do so and lean into the experience! Presenting is a way to share with other educators, but it will also help you reflect and grow as a teacher. Want support in getting started? There is an option on the sign up form for presenting to have someone from the MCTM Board reach out and partner with you!

Looking forward to seeing new presenters (you?!)  in April at our Spring Conference!

In September I shared how I was preparing for our new 2022 benchmarks,

As I am getting ready for this school year, my highest priority is to reread the Career, College, Community Readiness Vision Statement. This will be my North Star this year in creating the conditions for student success through building positive classroom learning environments, learning partnerships and joy in mathematics.
